Nelson Mandela’s Top 10 Quotes.

1.      “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

2.      “I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”

3.      “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

4.      “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

5.      “After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”

6.      “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

7.      “There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”

8.      “If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.”

9.      “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

10.  “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

The Splendour of Kenya

Kenya remains in the lips of many people around the world, both for the good and bad reasons. One thing that has kept many yearning to visit Kenya is her wild animals, the culture of her people, the beaches and beautiful scenery. Yet still some love Kenya for her top of the range tea and coffee, as well as for her high-speed athletes.
What has surprised many is the fact that Kenya managed to pick herself from the 2007 post election violence that claimed about a thousand lives, and had hundreds of thousand displaced; through the grand coalition government negotiated by Africa eminent persons and five years later managed to have a peaceful, free and fair election in 2013. Isn’t it amazing that this happened when the world thought Kenya and Kenyans would drown forever in bloody ethnic violence, never to be saved!

It’s difficult for the world to understand how these people with diverse culture have managed to coexist harmoniously, among themselves as well as with their wildlife, but as they put it; Kenyans have their way, the chemistry that glues them together even after adversity such as the post election violence! That’s why perhaps one needs to visit Kenya to enjoy everything that she has to offer and probably get a feel of the Kenyan communities, from the Maasai to the Abagusii, to the Samburu and the Turkana people and even the el moro, the smallest tribal grouping in Kenya.

Why do you really need to visit Kenya? What would you enjoy most? Kenya’s beautiful sceneries include: the superb beaches along the Kenyan coast, the Great Rift Valley, Mt. Kenya (Gods territory) as referred to by the local Agikuyu community; with its craggy peaks covered in snow, with worlds of forest, wildlife and unique vegetation; Mt Kilimanjaro that borders Uganda, offering interesting peaks for climbing with plenty of wildlife to discover and caves to explore; and Mt. Longonot Imposing over the shores of Lake Naivasha are just but a few of the compelling features and stunning scenery.

Being one of the most famous tourist destinations, Kenya boasts of her over forty parks and game reserves where you can view wildlife and have a feel of the country. You will take pleasure in watching; elephants, black and white rhinos, the flamingos, endangered bird species, butterflies, buffalos, the puff adder, the black mamba, bush buck, the leopard, dung beetles, rock python, reedbuck ; giraffe, zebras and a variety of other big game, de brazza monkey,  dik dik ,the lion, the hyena, the cheetah, black and white colobus monkey; vervet monkeys, and the impala among others all in their natural habitat, and not in adopted home; the zoos! at the malindi marine park you will enjoy the dolphins, turtles including the loggerhead, green, hawksbill and the olive ridley, over 300 species of fish including the barracuda, sharks, angel fish, and surgeon fish, lobsters, crabs, clams, octopus, star fish and a variety of other invertebrates as well as various species of algae including coralline algae, fleshy algae and algal turf.
While in Kenya, you will have an opportunity to have a glimpse of one of the Seven Wonders of the World: the annual wilder beast migration at the Maasai Mara. Watching this breathtaking experience will indeed impress upon you lasting memories of Kenya.

One last thing; when you Visit Kenya, remember to savour some of the most popular traditional foods including; Ugali, a semi-hard cake made of maize meal that is a favourite meal for all Kenyans and is consumed with fish, nyama choma (roast beef or goat meat),  meat stews, sukuma wiki(kales) or other greens. Kachumabri is a must taste and is a micture of chopped onions, tomatoes, some pepper and lemon juice. Other great meals include chapati, githeri, Mursik (fermented milk with traditional herbs) and kienyenji.

I am not ashamed

I am not ashamed,
When I say that you,
Must care for the environment,
For the environment,
Takes care of you!

In God's Image

Made in His Likeness,
To recreate with God,
Revamp the earth
Mind the universe
And protect all creation.

Multiply, fill the world,
Watch over all plants,
Birds, animals and fishes,
For you are a special being,
Made in Gods’ Image.

The Rain

Clouds gather,
Up in the sky
Grow heavy and darker,
Then break up into tiny
Droplets, showering the earth.

Storm water flows
Into drains and ground,
Recollecting into streams.
Thus rivers and lakes,
Seas and oceans are made.

When the sun shines,
Over the tress and shrubs,
Over the water bodies,
Evaporation takes place
And the droplets rise back unto the sky,

So if we need rain,
To water plants for our food,
We must protect the forests
The water bodies and the land,
We must conserve the environment.

The City

Welcome to the city!

where huge industries are to be found,

Producing garments, food staffs and detergents

Making cars, shoes and all sorts of bits and pieces.

Look! The heavy black smoke

That is Industrial Area,

It’s an Indication, the Factories are active…

offering employment to our sons and daughters,

and generating revenue for the government

Wealth creation, it is!

This pollution is titanic, and to a greater extent than we can see

As they burn the fuels, and carry out their manufacturing activities,

They release to theatmosphere Ozone depleting substances

In form of refrigerants, carbon dioxide, SOX and NOX

To the water and land too, they make discharges

That harms all the more, our planet earth

See, that is a dump site,

Where all the solid waste generated is deposited,

Hoping it would vanish

And yet not all is bio-degradable!

Oh no brother, it’s not that industries close down,

But that, they stop the business as usual path,

Assess their significant aspects and impacts,

put in mitigation measures to control them,

identify  where energy is used and where it is wasted,

practice energy efficiency and use renewable sources of energy;

Stop the use of ozone depletion substances,

and embrace green manufacturing,

for the green revolution MUST begin!

Time

The chronometer ticks steadily
Seconds, minutes and hours,
As time flies,
And before you know it, a day is gone.

Lose a second a minute,
You lose a minute an hour,
Twenty four minutes a day
And half a day in a month.

Save minute an hour,
So you gain twelve hours a month,
Six days a year,
And your year shall have, 3-7-2 days!

A Great Mother

Hard working and determined
Brought up her son and daughters
Grandsons and granddaughters
Instilling in them values
That they may have morals
Acceptable in society.
Humorous and wise the old lady was
And close to her
Always the grand children were,
Villagers envied,
But Young women admired.
Struck down by illness
Herself, she no longer was;
Could not walk nor stand,
Even crawling not with ease!
Slowly death came
And snatched our grand mother
A great mother!

So The World May Have Peace

What causes conflict
Quarrels and fights among you?
Evil desire battling within you
Fights and struggles for power
Ruining lives and infrastructure.
For how long shall we sit and watch?
\Peace, Be still
Come we reason together
Where there is envy and selfish ambition
Are disorder and evil practice.
Let us walk hand in hand;
Side by side,
And respect life for its sanctity.
Bring healing and renewal
That all may live in harmony
So the world may have peace.

My Queen Forever

My lovely lady,
how wonderful you are;
all that you do has a special touch,
how i desire to be
close to you all the time,
how i wish to hold you,
touch your silky hair
and listen to your heart beat.
I'd wish to dream with you,
plan with you,
share all my live with you
holding your hand
as you hold mine;
so that together
we support one another
as we journey.
so when live becomes tough
we'll keep going and loving
for i am yours
and you my Queen forever.

A complex World

A complex people, a complex world,
Indusrialisation is the word.
Everyone is blind,
Can't se the piled-up garbage in the city,
Condemned are justice and integrity,
Corruption and grabbing cherished;
Survival for the fittest is the rule.
Promisquity is embraced
and abortion; that volunatry killing, is a norm.
It's all Modernity; Civilisation, they call it!

Peace In Kenya

I am tired
Of these politicians
Than propagate hatred
Turning Kenyans against Kenyans
Making them kill one another
In the name of their tribes

Its’ our turn to eat, they say
We must have one of our own
So we form the kitchen cabinet
Charged with baking the national cake
Which we shall serve, first to our people
And the remainder if any, to our allies.

Alliances are formed and broken
Tribal and regional realignments now and then
Seeking winning combinations
To satisfy selfish interest
To protect their enormous wealth
And control the Kenyan economy

I the citizen have got it clear
Brighter now, than ever before
Tired being used by politicians,
Have made a resolve, to live in harmony with all
Carry out elections diligently,
and there shall be, Peace in Kenya.

I Thank God

It’s a bright beautiful morning;
A new day is here, unique in every way
I thank God, for allowing me to see a new day
And ask for the strength
To overcome the challenges that may come with it.

When the sun goes down,
And I retreat to my dwelling,
I thank God,
For his care, protection and divine providence
And ask that he may be with me, through the night.

For giving me a beautiful loving wife,
Two wonderful daughters,
For the peace and tranquility
That we enjoy each day
I thank God.

It’s a new Dawn in Kenya.

They thought we’d go down
But this was a new dawn
As we had risen
To embrace peace within.

Long winding queues we made
One by one our choices stated
Dawn to dusk in fortitude
Prophets of doom defeated

The entire world waited
 To hear how it turned
They thought we’d kill each other
But peace was our resolve

Five day’s later
It was clear that Kenya was the winner,
As we emerged united and stronger
It’s a new dawn, in Kenya.

It's a Shame!

What a shame!
When grown men and women
Cut down trees indiscriminately,
Destroying forests for greed and selfish interest.
Tearing down the wild habitat,
Wiping out the water towers
It’s a shame!

What a shame,
When learned men and women,
Refuse to control; impacts of their aspects
Polluting the land air and water.
Destroying the ozone layer
And bring about Global warming
It’s a shame!

What a shame,
When the intelligent you and I,
Dump waste without segregation,
When we don’t reduce, re-use or recycle
Thinking; it’s none of my business
To conserve our planet
It’s a shame!

What a shame,
Fail to consider better utilization of water and energy
Depleting our natural resources
Depriving the future generations
Their rightful inheritance
From Mother Nature
It’s a Shame!

Pen to Paper

Many things happen
That I do comprehend
Some with ease
Some with difficulty,
And yet some, not at all.
Without grumbling,
Or applauding,
I put pen to paper;
And let my feelings flow.
For that's how, I communicate best.

Hypocrisy

Hypocrisy is when,
You love to hear the birds sing,
Their sweet melodies each morning,
You go to the park to watch,
The beautiful butterflies flit around,
You take a holiday, to sun and sand resorts
And a game drive, to see Africa’s big five,
All the while, you pollute and choke the universe;
Destroying water towers, Making Rivers run dry,
The ice tip vanishes, the seal level rises,
And your enjoyment comes to an end.

The Nature Walk

I take a nature walk
To enjoy watching birds,
Play and sing sweet melodies
Unrivaled anywhere,
Butterflies donned beautifully,
Soar above the flowers
And many little monkeys
Play about on the tree tops
I shall plant a tree,
Conserve the environment
And prevent any pollution
To save the flora and fauna,
Save Mother Nature from dilapidation,
And that my enjoyment may be lengthened.

Harmony

What a gorgeous sight,
Magnificence, beauty and colour
Roses, lilies and carnations,
Those amazing plants
Blossoming every morning
 Radiating Fine fragrances
That Calm and give inner peace

Down the valley,
Beautiful terrains and land forms
Lead to the Meandering River
With it’s awesome waterfalls
Resounding from the woods across
And the rays of the rising sun
Dazzlingly lick the water plane.

Butterflies hover over the petals
Kissing them intermittently
As birds fly by
Suckling the thirst quenching nectar
And their males assemble
Grass and twigs to erect their habitat
Singing their finest melodies.

The gentle wind blows over the stream
Unto the giant trees
Causing them move back and forth
And boogie to the birds’ production
Beneath the vegetation’s envelop
A lion and baby Oryx lye together in quiet,
And a giant dog rescues a dumped baby!

I am in admiration, wishing never to walk off
But sadly its morning n I got to wake up
Lest I be late for work!
Dear God, why can’t such harmony exist among humans?
Have mercy Oh Lord;
And grant us tranquility.

Save Mother Nature

I wish to cry and wail
And yet I sob silently,
 As no one would listen,
None cares what becomes of her.
Busy they all are
Dispossessing her
Of her colossal wealth
Oh poor Mother Nature.

Hacking trees, planting none
They’ve stripped her nude.
Plastics, oils and greases,
The non ecological substances,
Heaped on her face
And released to the universe,
Noxious gases that rip the ozone
Subjecting her to further destruction

The rains are gone,
The ice tip vanished
The beautiful beaches are no more,
Weather patterns b’n altered for ever
And our people now go hungry
Alas! Global warming is real,
Oh poor Mother Nature,
Can we save you?

Sh-h- h, who’s are you?
Why do you sneak behind me?
Don’t play to care, aren’t you one of them?
Clear up the mess!
Isolate and dispose of waste sensibly
Reduce, Re-use Recycle
Save Water and Energy
Save Mother Nature.
